Things to Do
in Bucks County PA
Being in the
heart of Bucks County, numerous State and County parks possessing
picnic and barbecue facilities, pools, childrens recreational
areas, lakes with water activities, boat rentals and hiking trails
surround us. There are countless waterways including the historic
Delaware River, which offers river rafting, canoeing and rental
of both canoes and rafting tubes. The Wells ferry historic
river ride has a guitarist playing and giving a guided tour down
the Delaware River. There is also the New Hope mule barge, which
provides rides on the Delaware Canal. Hiking and jogging are popular
activities around our farm. Some nearby farms provide riding stables
with rings, trails and lessons.
Being that Pennsylvania
is the leading agricultural state in the Northeast, we have a local
abundance of roadside stands and farmers markets, orchards and farms
with pick your own fruit and even a near by organic farm.
Within a reasonable
distance, there are theme and amusement parks (e.g. Dorney Park
and Wild Water Kingdom, Sesame Place and Seven Flags Great Adventure),
a game preserve, nearby nature centers, areas for skiing and various
winter sports. In the winter, farms and houses are aglow with manger
scenes and spectacular lighting.
There exists
an abundance of both small and gigantic flea markets, barn sales,
yard sales, auctions, antique shows, music festivals, concerts,
arts and craft festivals and a mind boggling proliferation of antique
shops. Specifically, Lambertville is known for its numerous antique
stores and New Hope for its artist community and summer stock theatre.
The theatre boasts of celebrities having been discovered there such
as Burt Reynolds, Liza Minnelli, Grace Kelly and many others. There
are various museums, art galleries and a wide variety of restaurants.
There are several wineries around us, which provide wine tasting.
If you love discount shopping there is always "quaint"
Peddlers Village where one can stroll through an endless landscapers
dream while perusing a multitude of individual outlet stores.
The area around
us abounds with historic American sites and informative tours are
usually offered. Philadelphia itself is just 30 miles away.
